What Are Our Basic Human Needs? Redefining Food, Clothing and protection

Recently, in one of my Ekp body psychotherapy groups, a very provocative thread of conversation emerged about food, clothing and shelter. As the conversation unfolded, I came to comprehend that in our culture today, how we have come to understand food, clothing and security is very separate than when I was growing up. This unlikeness was underscored poignantly as I recently spent some time with Native Americans in the Southwest.

When I think of the words, "food, clothing and shelter," I think of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. "Food, clothing and shelter" are at the bottom of the pyramid of needs for life, providing the foundation, our most valuable needs. "Self-actualization" is at the very top--the icing on the cake when all other basic needs are satisfied.

The Food Pyramid

When I was growing up, food was something you bought at the grocery store and then ready and cooked at home. When I had a occasion to go to a farm, as I learned how to milk a cow or tend to vegetable plants, I got to see where food "really came from."

As a child, I spent a lot of hours gardening and growing vegetables in my backyard. Clothing was something I learned how to sew from McCall's or Simplicity patterns in Home Economics class or something one could purchases at shop like Sears or Filene's Basement. The goal was to take care of anyone clothes I made or purchased, so they would last a long time. And plentifulness of kids provided or received "hand me downs."

Shelter was a simple, yet sufficient home. In the 1950's and 1960's, ranch and Cape Cod style houses were built, and served as the warm vessel for home and hearth.

I have found, over the years, that in some ways I have become a dinosaur, an anachronysm, as the practices connected with food, clothing ahd security have changed drastically, in our "crazybusy" commerical culture. I still put in order home-cooked meals every day and grow vegetables in my garden. I have come to see how rare this is. When my son was in pre-school, he had a friend over for dinner. I had made a home-cooked dinner, and my son's friend didn't recognize any of what was on the table. Steamed vegetables. Cut fruit. A carefully ready entree.

The boy exclaimed, "What is this food? What we have at home is Chinese take-out, Kfc or McDonald's." I explained what I had prepared, and the boy said, "My mom never makes home-cooked meals." I guess that was one of my first initiations.

Recently, I heard person comment, "Dinner means I give person a twenty dollar bill, and they give something back to me." With the burgeoning of ready foods and restaurants of every potential cuisine imagineable, "food" for many of us is something person else prepares, and we buy to eat--either in or out of the home. The cost of ready food can be much greater than the cost of a home-cooked meal. But time has become even more high-priced than money in many circumstances. And when both time and money are scarce, the quality of food one can have diminuishes.

And then, there is clothing... About eight years ago, a friend of mine who was going straight through a separation asked if she could stay with me for a few months while she transitioned and figured out her next steps. I said, "Yes." So, in moved my friend, along with her total wardrobe.

At first, I was taken aback. One day when I went to her house to help her move, I saw that she had filled an entire room with clothes. I soon discovered, that was only the first procedure on her menu. She had filled two walk-in closets, a bathroom, and the bedroom she shared with her soon to be ex-husband. How could she fit all of those clothes in the spacious, but nonetheless, solo bedroom she would be staying in at my house?

My friend decided to put half her clothes in storage, delegate her second tier choices to my basement, bought a special armoire to supplement the brimmingly full closet, and carefully herself "roughing it." As person with an eye for fashion, my friend opinion she had just what she needed to be "current."

Then, came the woman who had a great corporate job and a six form income, but never sufficient money. A major woe for her was that she spent a fortune on clothing, because once she had worn an outfit a couple of times, it was time to throw it out and buy a new one. I was, once again, surprised, feeling at the very least naive, and perhaps even Polyannaish. I asked her why she didn't wash her clothes or take them to the dry cleaners. She replied that would be too much work. In her busy life, it was just easier to buy new clothes. And besides, they'd all the time look fresh.

I recently learned from a man working in the corporate world, that even though his best intention is to dry clean some of his high-priced pro suits, some sort of coating is put on the fabric that breaks down at the dry cleaners. So, in essence, he has slight option but to wear the suit til it is dirty, and then throw it out and buy a new one.

In each of these cases, the definition of "clothing" is so separate than what I ever imagined it might be, and what is "necessary" to have "enough" feels wasteful at many levels--be it straight through people's definition of what "being okay" or "professional" or "current" means...or even straight through the planned obsolescence that comes with clothes that aren't made to last--but rather to break down.

And finally, there is shelter. Chances are you know what's going to come next. In my town, even in my neighborhood, so many of those cozy, homey ranches and capes have been torn down in favor of today's MacMansion.

On my own street, just a handfull of years after I moved into my house, a lot of land was sold to a real estate baron. Suddenly a heavy two-family unit was constructed, that didn't fit in with the character of this Victorian-lined "historic district" location. Several years later, the same folks who sold the parcel of land, most likely in a time of financial difficulty, sold a tiny strip of land in back of their house, moved their carriage house onto the adjacent road to become a carport and allowed a tall, thin luxury two- condominium structure to reach into the sky. A copper beach tree that was hundreds of years old was lost in the process. But a lot of money was to be made and spent by real estate developers and consumers of luxury condos. I was very sad.

That took place a whole of years ago, and seems tame compared to the 10,000 quadrilateral foot home the parents of person in my son's school now live in, having torn down a perfectly good 1950's home and built their MacMansion. Do these huge homes easily contribute shelter? And if so, from what? easily not the same elements the Native American folks I spent time with were referring to.

As person who still sees the merit in the definition of "basic needs" I came to understand as a child, I find it scary and marvelous to see our "supersized," "crazybusy," "commodity-based" new definitions of these essentials. I think the essence of our basic needs gets lost in the "packaging" of what we feel pulled to "consume." perhaps another kind of empty calories, translated beyond the realm of food and nutrition?

Can we find more meaningful ways to "feed," "clothe" and "shelter" ourselves, and even enrich these concepts to consist of true nourishment, security and expression, and home/hearth? perhaps that is what Maslow might have envisioned when he created his model. I suspect, he didn't have the "supersized" versions of today's culture in mind!

The Best Powerlifting Routines

If you're looking to get as strong as possible, or even if you're using weight training as a means to an end of a great physique, powerlifting training is very beneficial. There are tons of weight lifting programs out there, but all of the flourishing things have one thing in base - they focus on gaining lots of strength! Here is what you should look for in the best powerlifting routines:

1. Focus on the Squat, Bench Press, and Deadlift

The Food Pyramid

If you've been in the powerlifting game for long, or even if you're researched the sport itself, this will be a no-brainer to you. However, it's surprising how many citizen (don't be ashamed if this is you!) are unaware that they should be doing the basic power exercises in their powerlifting routines.

These prominent exercises are the squat, bench press, and deadlift. Even if you are not training specifically for powerlifting, and many of you probably are not, you should all the time focus on variations of these movements for maximum muscle growth.

All good powerlifting routines (or bodybuilding routines, for that matter) will have you performing various squats, presses, and deadlifts to build most of your muscle mass. Gaining vigor on these basic movements will take you added than any other supposed "bodybuilding" technique when it comes to construction lots of muscle mass.

2. Use Many Methods of Weight Lifting

You have probably heard about using low reps, high reps, medium reps, etc. These are often referred to as the separate "methods" of weight training. Though citizen often try to categorize these methods as "powerlifting training" or "bodybuilding training," flourishing lifters and physique builders of any type use a combination, not just one.

Using very heavy weights with which you can only perform 1-3 (and sometimes up to 5) reps is referred to as the maximal endeavor method. This is what most citizen think of when they think powerlifting routines - heavy weights, very few reps.

Using light or moderate weights for sets of 8, 10, 12, or even more reps is normally referred to as the repetition, or repeated endeavor method. This is what citizen traditionally think of as "bodybuilding" training. However, powerlifters, competing and recreational, use this recipe to build up their muscle mass, as well.

The third recipe of significance is called the dynamic endeavor method. This is when you use a weight that is nearby 50-60 percent of your max for a given movement and perform sets of 1-3 very fast reps. Though this recipe can be great for construction speed, it is best left to very industrialized lifters.

3. Eat to Grow

The most prominent piece to the muscle-building puzzle is eating. You must eat more food than your body expends each day, so that your body can use the surplus to build New muscle tissue, and not just mend what you already have.

Eating sufficient food is one area in which competing powerlifters tend to outdo bodybuilders and other fitness enthusiasts. Many trainees, even industrialized ones, will often avoid eating sufficient to gain muscle for fear of fat gain, as well. While this is a legitimate concern, you can't be worried about it so much that it inhibits your muscle gains.

You should be eating 2 times your bodyweight in protein grams per day (that's a lot!), as well as sufficient carbs and fats to provide the added energy to train and grow. Focus generally on "clean" sources of food such lean meats, fish, grains, oils, nuts, and produce. However, don't be afraid to cheat on your diet every once in a while. You're already going for a calorie surplus, it's not like a few hundred extra at one meal is admittedly going to hurt you in the long run.

The 10 Best Arm construction Exercises for starting Bodybuilders

Everybody has fun with "Top 10" lists, and they sometimes comprise information that you can precisely use to improve your life or achieve a personal goal. If you're serious about construction big, muscular arms, then this is the list for you! But before I give you my Top 10 list for arm-building success, let me explicate my option criteria.

First, the exercises on this list are straightforward and for beginners who need to start with a solid foundation in arm-building fundamentals in order to achieve long-term success from their biceps, triceps and forearm workouts. Though I've said that these exercises are simple, this does not mean that they're easy. Their simplicity lies in the intuitive benefits that come from each arm-building movement and the fact that you can do these exercises with a minimal time commitment. Getting the most from these exercises will still require careful attentiveness to training technique and workout variety - the 2 keys to arm-building success that are not always easy for beginning bodybuilders.

The Food Pyramid

In my experience, you're a beginner if you've been training your arms once or twice per week for 6 months or less. You're also a beginner if you been trying to build your arms for more than 6 months with exercises other than those provided on my list. Why? Because if you haven't mastered the arm-building exercises listed in my Top 10, you're not ready for the intermediate or developed workout methods that you'll ultimately need to build truly Awesome Arms.

Second, to make my Top 10 list, the equipment needed for each arm-building rehearsal must be universally available. That means that you can do all of these exercises with dumbbells, an Ez-curl bar and a basic workout bench which you can find in any gym or health club. You can also do these exercises at home with a very small speculation in this equipment for your home gym. There's no need for fancy machines or trendy gimmicks here.

Finally, each of my Top 10 arm-building exercises will help you to simultaneously build mass, shape and power in your biceps, triceps and forearms. These muscle areas are directly targeted while each rehearsal to maximize growth and efficiency from your workouts.

Now that I've told you how I came up with my list, here are the Top 10 exercises for construction the big, muscular arms that you desire! They're not listed in any particular order, so there's no fancy to think that one particular rehearsal is better than another. You must resolve what works best for you straight through experimentation with each exercise. But rest assured that any arm-building program that includes all of these exercises will absolutely add inches, symmetry and power to your biceps, triceps and forearms.

1. Ez Bar Preacher Curls

The Ez bar preacher curl is one of my all time popular biceps exercises. The preacher bench is a terrific training tool as it forces the biceps to work in relative isolation from the back and shoulders. Unlike standing barbell curls which normally involve biceps-cheating torso swing, preacher curls keep your arms at an angle that forces your biceps to contribute the leverage needed to lift the weight. The Ez curl bar offers both narrow-grip and wide-grip hand positions. When you use the narrow grip, your hands are in a semi-neutral position and therefore growth involvement of the brachioradialis in the curling motion. If you have no sense with preacher curls, you should probably begin with the narrow-grip position.

As you become more experienced with this rehearsal you should move to the wider grip as it forces supination or a "palms up" positioning of your hands. Since the biceps function primarily as a hand-supinator, the more you supinate your hands the more resistance you will place on your biceps. If you've got the potential to build biceps peaks, Ez bar preacher curls will precisely tap that potential.

2. Dumbbell Preacher Curls

The dumbbell preacher curl is someone else one of my popular biceps builders. This rehearsal precisely allows you to make the mind-body association so valuable to arm-building success. While many competing bodybuilders use this rehearsal exclusively as a "shaper" while pre-contest training, the dumbbell preacher curl also works as a grand mass maker when used in a pyramid cycle. In fact, this rehearsal is the best high intensity bodybuilding movement for simultaneously adding size and shape to your biceps.

3. Dumbbell attentiveness Curls

As the name suggests, this rehearsal places concentrated resistance on the biceps when performed properly. Besides construction your biceps, this rehearsal also stresses and develops the brachialis. The brachialis is a true forearm flexor. It originates on the lower previous surface of the humerus, ends on the previous surface of the coronoid process of the ulna (the large bone on the inside of the forearm) and is graphic on the surface of the upper arm between the biceps and the lateral head of the triceps. Development of the brachialis and biceps gives the front of your upper arms that thick, dense look that says "mess with me at your own risk!!"

4. Seated Alternating Dumbbell Curls

This rehearsal is one of the best biceps builders ever as long as you sit on a bench that has a back rest to prevent torso movement. Too many habitancy do this rehearsal either standing or sitting on a bench without back support. In order to make sure that your biceps get the most work from this movement you must stabilize your torso so as to prevent any jerking motion. Also, remember to supinate your hands throughout each repetition to stimulate maximum growth for your biceps.

5. Ez Bar Triceps Extensions

This exercise, also known as "Skull crushers" is a terrific mass-builder for your triceps. For maximum growth, Ez bar triceps extensions require that you keep your upper arms in a position perpendicular (90 degrees) to the rehearsal bench throughout each repetition. If this position causes you any elbow strain or discomfort, you can lower the angle by thoughprovoking your arms slightly forward to sell out the stress on your elbows. Don't worry - production this minor adjustment won't impede your ability to get the benefits of this exercise.

You should also place your hands in the narrow-grip position on the Ez bar which, when combined with permissible arm position, ensures that each triceps head receives maximum resistance throughout the rehearsal motion. Lower and enlarge the weight in a smooth, continuous appeal without jerking or swinging the bar with your back or shoulders. When done correctly, you can't beat Ez bar triceps extensions for construction big, muscular triceps.

6. Triceps Pushups

You're probably well-known with acceptable pushups which are performed with your arms in a shoulder width position. While acceptable pushups involve the triceps, chest and shoulders in the "pushing" motion, triceps pushups are designed to minimize chest and shoulder involvement so as to maximize training resistance on the triceps. This rehearsal is deceptively straightforward in that it appears to the untrained eye as just someone else pushup. But like every rehearsal on my Top 10 list, technique is very leading and permissible hand position determines either these pushups will add muscular inches to your triceps.

For permissible performance, take a acceptable pushup position with your hands and arms extended and shoulder-width apart. Then slide your hands closer together until your thumbs nearly touch each other. This is the beginning position. With your hands in this position, gently lower your arms underneath you and then push yourself back up to the beginning position as you would with quarterly pushups. Make sure that you keep your back straight and your head up for maximum resistance on your triceps. As you enlarge your arms, concentrate mentally on maintaining permissible form and technique with each repetition. For added resistance or pyramid cycles, have a training buddy gently place a 5-10 pound barbell plate on your back to force your triceps to work harder and build greater mass.

7. Seated Triceps Dips

Seated triceps dips are someone else terrific triceps builder, yet I can count on one hand the whole of times I've seen anyone doing them in the gym. Maybe habitancy ignore them because, like triceps pushups, they look too straightforward to do any good. Well, the proof, as they say, is in the pudding, and seated triceps dips have precisely added valuable power and density to my triceps.

To do this exercise, sit on a workout bench with your legs together and extended on the floor in front of you. Your arms should be fully extended and shoulder-width apart behind you. Slide your body slightly forward to hang yourself so that your arms are bearing your bodyweight between the bench and the floor. With your arms extended, lower yourself as though to sit on the floor and then push yourself back up by extending your arms and returning to the beginning position. This exercise, when performed properly, will add grand power, shape and definition to your triceps - guaranteed!

8. Single-Arm Triceps Extension

The single-arm triceps extension, also known as the "French dumbbell press" is a triceps-builder that I propose primarily as a shaping movement. Although it is potential to build mass with this exercise, the over-head arm position may prevent you from using sufficient weight to generate the type of power and mass-building potential ready from Skull crushers and triceps pushups. You should experiment with this rehearsal and use it in a manner that gives you the best results. But remember, I do not propose using heavy weight with this movement because of the risk of shoulder injury. Consistent use of light-to-moderate weight will contribute the best results from this triceps builder.

9. Reverse-Grip Ez Bar Curls

This rehearsal puts primary stress on the brachioradialis and extensor muscles of the dorsal or outer surface of your forearms. Since your hands are pronated in the narrow-grip position, your wrists are extended which forces involvement of the extensor carpi radialis and extensor carpi ulnaris. This pronated or "palms down" positioning of the hands also takes the biceps out of this exercise, which isolates the brachioradialis as the primary forearm flexor. If you're serious about construction big, muscular forearms, reverse-grip Ez bar curls are a good first step.

10. Wrist Curls

Wrist curls work to invent the two large muscles on the inside measure of the previous surface of the forearm. These muscles, the flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor carpi radialis, are the wrist flexors and concentrate to form a thick, muscular region from the elbow to the lower forearm. While these muscles do valuable work while your biceps curling movements, wrist curls separate these flexors so as to maximize resistance on this section of your forearms. If you want to add thickness and power to your inner forearms, heavy wrist curls will do the job.

So, there you have it - my Top 10 list of arm-building exercises for beginning bodybuilders. Try them, have fun with them, and make sure that you use safe amounts of weight and permissible training technique with every exercise. You'll be very happy with the results!

Vince Lombardi's Nine system of Success

Vince Lombardi's Nine theory of Success:

"The part of who we are is what we do with what we have." Vince Lombardi

The Food Pyramid

1. Commitment- "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor." Vince Lombardi. Lombardi goes on to state, "A winner must be committed to discipline, committed to cut and self-denial, and committed to hard work."

How committed are you? If you are an athlete, are you the first one at practice, and the last one to leave? If you are part of an organization - are you manufacture sure that you efforts are helping the whole organization? Are you willing to jump in and help others even when "it is not my job." As an educator, do you take the time to visit with other teachers in your field - studying ways to make yourself more significant in the classroom? Are you willing to Wit? whatever it Takes to be successful?

2. Truth- "In football and business, a leader must be honest with himself and the habitancy he is working with. Faithfulness and truth are the most sacred excellences and endowments of the human mind." Vince Lombardi

Are you being honest with your many fan and your strongest critic - yourself? Are you doing the things on a daily basis that will allow you to do more, be more, have more? Or, are you being dishonest to yourself and those who count on you on a daily basis? With today business ethics or lack of ethics, habitancy are finding to be able to deal with reliable, trustable individuals and organizations.

3. Excellence- "If you interrogate perfection of yourself, you'll seldom achieve it. Fear of manufacture a mistake is the biggest cause of manufacture one. Instead of pushing for perfection, relax and pursue excellence." Bud Winter

Lombardi stated, "No one is perfect. But boys, if you'll not resolve for whatever less than the best, you'll be amazed at what you can do with your lives. You'll be amazed at how much you can rise in this world."

Perfection rarely happens...it is the exquisite game thrown by a baseball pitcher, but requires the help and maintain of his teammates. It is a 300 game in bowling, rarely reached by whatever but the best bowlers. It is the hole in one in golf...a feat rarely accomplished. Any way the pursuit of excellence should be a goal we all seek.

4. Results- "Winning is not everything, but manufacture the exertion to win is." Vince Lombardi

Hall of Fame basketball player, Bill Walton, stated this about winning- "Winning is about having the whole team on the same page."

In team sports, there is commonly one team that wins, and one team that loses. The team that plays together can often overcome a lack of talent to be successful. A team with lack of character may win games, but will not be thriving in the long run, and success will be short lived.

We all the time set goals for our teams, and winning were not a major goal. We felt if we could reach the majority of the goals set for every opponent, the winning would take care of itself. We wanted results. We wanted revising each and every time out. What is it that you expect for yourself and your organization?

"There is no limit when no one cares who gets the credit." John Wooden

5. Passion- "I learned that if you want to make it bad enough, no matter how bad it is, you can make it." Gayle Sayers

Are you passionate about what you do? Do you have the first one to the office, convention field, classroom mentality, or are you dragging in as things are starting? Do you believe in what you are doing, in your teammates and/or co-workers, do you have it in your heart, your mind, and in your soul - and are willing to take no excuses from yourself and your teammates? Does that fire burn deep within you?

"There is only one way to consequent in anything, and that is to give it everything. I do, and I interrogate that my players do." Vince Lombardi

6. Habit- "The incompatibility in the middle of a thriving man and others in not a lack of strength, nor a lack of knowledge, but rather the lack of will." Vince Lombardi

It has been said that doing the same thing today as you did yesterday and expect dissimilar results is a definition of insanity. Habit is an act that we repeatedly do. It can be good or it can be bad. Psychologists appraisal that 90% of the things we do is habitual. Think about it, beginning with your morning routine, and ending to when you retire at night. There are hundreds of things you do the same way every day, often without mental about them.

Robert Ringer, author of Million Dollar Habits states-"Success is am matter of understanding and religiously practicing exact uncomplicated habits that all the time lead to success.

7. mental Toughness- "If you're lucky sufficient to find a guy with a lot of head, and a lot of heart, he's never going to come off the field second." Vince Lombardi

You often hear coaches tell their players, "We have to be mentally tough." Just what is mental toughness? It is one of those words that are difficult to explain. I think my definition of mental toughness is- proper mental and physical preparing that enables you to forget the price- the sacrifices that you must pay for success. It is the thing that allows us to climb off the mat one more time after we have been knocked down. It gives us the quality to strive on inspire of the hurt and the pain that we may be experiencing. It is what allows us to rebound from temporary failures that life sends our way.

When I was coaching, we were down 92-75 with five minutes left in the game. I called a timeout and asked my players how much gas they had left in the tank. I knew the other team was tired. I needed them to tell me that they could reach down inside - give it their all for the remainder of the game. We began to press. Our frame of mind is we were not going to lose. The gap closed, gently at first, and then like man had opened the flood gates, we were magically back in the game. With :08 seconds left in the game we hit a three to send it to overtime. Our opponent was spent......but mentally we were ready for the challenge. We wound up winning the game 119-111 in overtime.

8. Discipline- "Some habitancy regard discipline as a chore. For me, it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly." Julie Andrews

Normally when we hear the word discipline we associate it with punishment. According to Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary, discipline can be defined as: to train or construct by education or exercise- especially in self-control; to bring a group under control. George Washington stated, "Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable, procures success to the weak, and esteem to all."

For most of my coaching career, I did not saddle my team with rules. Our basic rule was to be where you are supposed to be, doing what you are supposed to be doing, when you are supposed to be doing it - and doing it to the best of your ability. By following that uncomplicated set of rules, my players graduated, for the most part grew into the individuals I can be very proud of today.

9. Perseverance- "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more base than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is approximately a proverb. education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and measurement alone are omnipotent." Calvin Coolidge

Persistence and perseverance may be the singular most base quality of thriving people. They refuse to lose, to give up. They know the longer they hang in there, the greater the opening for success. Thomas Edison failed to construct the light bulb over 1000 times. When asked by a reported how it felt to fail so many times, Edison responded he didn't fail, he discovered ways not to construct the light bulb.

H. Ross Perot, Texas billionaire and old presidential candidate says this about perseverance- "Most habitancy give up just when they're about to achieve success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown."

There are going to be times when it isn't easy. habitancy will doubt your ability, your effort, or your value to the organization. They may not believe in your dream, or have the same passion you do. They may think you are over your head or over the hill. What if Kurt Warner had believed all of the things habitancy were saying about him before the Arizona Cardinals run toward the Super Bowl?

I have been fortunate to know some habitancy who have overcome big odds to reach their goals. Kevin Saunders, bronze medal winner in the Para-Olympics (Barcelona, Spain) wrote a book about his journey title appropriately enough, "There's all the time a Way...Never Give Up!

I leave you with this thought- "The power to hold on in spite of everything, the power to endure-this is the winners quality. Persistence is the quality to face defeat again and again without giving up-to push on in the face of great difficulty, knowing that victory will be yours. Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, and to do what's significant to reach your goal." Anon.

How Many fat Can I Have And Still Lose Weight?

To shape out how many fat you should have, first start with where you are. In other words, shape out how many fat it takes to articulate your gift size and then sell out from there. You can go about this in many ways. Most population simply pick an arbitrary amount like 1200 fat and that's what they eat, but in nearly every case that's not nearly sufficient fat to ensure sufficient nutrition, not to mention the deprivation that sets up.

While losing weight and to this day, I eat over 2000 fat a day on midpoint and I've maintained a good weight for my height for over 17 years. Remember, your body requires fat to articulate itself.

The Food Pyramid

Basic Calorie Requirements Calculation Based on activity Level:

Sedentary : 13 X Weight = Avg. Cal/day

Sedentary is not exercising at all

Moderately Active: 16 X Weight = Avg. Cal/day

Moderately Active is exercising practically 3-4 times per week

Very Active: 19 X Weight = Avg. Cal/day

Very Active is 5-7 strenuous exercise sessions per week.

If you weigh over 200 pound now, and you'd like to weigh closer to 150, here is a calculation you could use to get started: Assuming you are going to be adding sufficient exercise to quality as slowly Active, we'll use 16 as our modifier:

150 pounds X 16 fat per pound = 2400 calories

Less 500 (Using the common 500 fat per day reduction) gives us a total of 1900 midpoint fat per day

If you started to couple a plan that allowed an midpoint of 1900 fat every day, you'd start to lose weight. The mistake most population make is to sell out fat too much, which finally sacrifices muscle plus sets you up for feeling deprived. It's far best in the long run to go more slowly, holding as much muscle as inherent while burning fat via exercise. Remember too, even if you don't eat quite that many fat on many days, you might eat more on the weekends for instance, so it ends up being closer to your goal of 1900 midpoint per day. Take the total fat for the week divided by seven.

Remember, this midpoint calorie amount gives you abundance of wiggle room while the week. You can have some treats along with every person else, or add more on weekends. Instead of enduringly saying, "I can't, I'm on a diet," now you can say, "Thank you, that looks delicious," and enjoy some. It doesn't ruin your diet plan because you've got a large sufficient calorie allowance that if you are more truthful some days than others, it will work out to the midpoint amount of fat you want. I tend to eat far less fat while the week than on weekends and my totals commonly midpoint out to 2000 to 2200 fat per day.

The 500 calorie allowance is a well approved amount. You can sell out your fat further, but I wouldn't recommend it. It doesn't advantage anything to try for faster weight loss, in fact, if you sell out your fat too much you end up wasting muscle in the process, which is exactly what you do not want to do. If you want faster results, it's best to add more activity, thereby burning more fat at rest.

You may be reasoning I'm nuts, recommending 1900 fat per day, but I can say for a fact that if you eat too slight (1000 - 1200 fat is too few, Imo) then you set yourself up for all of the following:

Deprivation. You're going to feel deprived, mentally and physically. 1000 fat isn't sufficient for your basic metabolic needs, much less to fuel yourself for your activity needs. Add more food! Just have a bit more than you're already having, so for instance, if you are allowed 1/2 cup of vegetables is a whole cup going to ruin all your progress? I doubt it. Eat a whole cup, or go ahead and have two oranges. Fruits and vegetables are very low calorie but contribute high nutrition.

Sure, some vegis and fruits are high in sugar, but it's natural sugar. I seriously doubt our planet grows any killer foods - it is more likely the food manufactures which has processed those foods to come to be nothing more than a dried powder, then add back more sugars, and chemicals so it will look the traditional product, is more harmful than a simple apple or banana?

If you are diabetic or must watch the sugars, have a small bit of protein along with the higher glycemic food, such as an ounce of cheese with your apple. Observation I said an ounce of cheese, not a slab big sufficient to feed a small country.

Metabolic Slow-Down Feeding yourself too few fat sets you up for metabolic slow-down. Studies have shown time and again that a heavier someone can find it difficult to lose weight, even though eating very low calories, simply because their body's metabolism is burning at such a slow rate. As you probably already know exercise helps to speed up your metabolism but so does eating. That's why they say breakfast is so important, not only to fuel yourself but because it starts the metabolic furnace burning, and it continues to burn all day. If you don't eat anything until noon, you don't stoke your furnace to start burning until then either.

Has the ultra low calorie advent worked for you so far? If not, why not try something more reasonable? Tag along with a friend who doesn't have a weight question and you'll see how sometimes they eat more, sometimes less, but on midpoint they eat sufficient to fuel their body and articulate their weight.

Adding more food gives you supplementary eye appeal. If you split up 1000 fat over the course of an entire day you're finding at pretty skimpy portions on your plate each time you eat. I like to feel like I'm getting sufficient to eat and I do this by rounding out my plate with extra vegetables.

If I'm having a frozen entree for instance, I'll cook up a cup or more of frozen vegetables to add to my plate. The extra vegis de facto fill me up, providing the satisfaction I need, and I often have a bit extra vegetables to throw away. Is that wasting food? No, it's smart. Far best for me mentally to have extra food to toss away than to be licking the plate because I'm still hungry. I'm also not likely to start wanting something else to eat right after dinner if I'm feeling content with the amount I've eaten.

Make an exertion to learn to like your food as is. Plain mixed vegetables with nothing on them are delicious. It took me awhile to stop putting butter on them, and then even quitting the Molly McButter (just chemicals and sodium). I eat them plain and yes, they are great. Nature made our fruits and vegetables simply sweet and all those "extras" we are used to using like butter on vegetables or potatoes de facto make things taste all yummy but they also make us larger than we need to be. Those "extra" fat add up.

Slowly Make Adjustments to What or How Much You Eat

Wean yourself off adding sugar to your cold cereal. Read the label; all processed cereals contain a ridiculous amount of added sugar. There's no need to add more. My only exception is brown sugar on oatmeal. I don't sugar my cereal at all anymore but it took me awhile to make the change. Start by adding a bit less, then next week cut back a bit more until you break the habit entirely. Tiny changes make up for big results over time.

If you feed yourself well, and focus on addition your activity, even if only a little, then you will continue to lose fat, build muscle and get more shapely, all the while addition your metabolism so you can eat more food!

Deep Fryer Cooking - A Beginner's Guide to perfect Food

Deep-frying is something that a lot of population have never tried and instead have left to the fast food outlets and restaurants. Deep-frying is precisely quite easy though, when you know how it is done, and a deep fryer is the cleanest, safest way of deep-frying your food.

Pour the oil into the deep fryer, keeping it well below the indicated max fill line. If there is no max fill line, check the instructions. You will need sufficient oil so your food is immersed but do not fill it right up because your food will displace some of the oil.

There will be a climatic characteristic operate on the machine, either a button or a knob. Some fryers let you know when the oil has reached the right climatic characteristic but if your machine does not have this feature, you will need to use a thermostat or drop a cube of crustless white bread into the fryer. If it turns golden brown after one minute, the oil is at the right climatic characteristic for deep-frying.

If the oil is too hot, the food will be cooked on the covering and still partially raw inside. If the oil is not hot enough, the food will soak it up and come out soggy.

Put the food into the fryer, using a slotted spoons or tongs if there is no basket in the fryer. Do not put too much food in at once because this cooking recipe is fast and cooking in batches is quick and easy.

If you are frying frosty food, try to brush off as many ice crystals as you can because they can cause spattering when they come into experience with the hot oil. Close the deep fryer lid if there is one, while the food cooks. Keep an eye on the clock to time your cooking and then take off the cooked food with the basket, slotted spoon, or tongs. Drain it on paper towels to suck in excess grease.
